Traffic stop in GBC leads to drug arrest

On April 16 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Officer Roger Cullum initiated a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet truck for a traffic infraction. Cullum made contact with the driver, who was identified as Bradley Lynn Blankenship, 56, who resides in Athens. During the contact Cullum detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Blankenship’s person. Blankenship admitted to drinking and was asked to step from the vehicle to determine if he was intoxicated. After doing so Cullum noticed Blankenship to have a black zipper case in his hand. Cullum inquired about the case and Blankenship fled on foot for a short distance before he was apprehended by Cullum. Upon examining the case Cullum located various items of drug paraphernalia and approximately 45 grams of methamphetamine.

Blankenship was then taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance pg-1 4g
