Three CRHS Students Advance to State in Debate

On Monday, Nov. 10, Cross Roads High School students competed in the Regional UIL Congressional Debate tournament. Cross Roads ISD served as the host site for all classifications 1A-6A for the Region 7 Congressional Debate tournament. Cross Roads hosted 29 schools consisting of 150 students and 45 adult coaches and adjudicators. Each classification advances three students to UIL State competition. Cross Roads Volleyball Ready for Playoffs

The Cross Roads Lady Bobcats volleyball team is playoff bound. However, their destination for bi-district competition has yet to be determined because 2nd and 3rd place seating for District 21-2A is still up for grabs. The Cross Roads Ladycats and Kerens Ladycats finished tied at the end of the District 21-2A play.

The Cross Roads Ladycats will play Kerens Saturday, Nov. 1, at Eustace High School. First serve is at 6 pm. The winner will play Normangee (District 22-2A third place) in the bi-district playoff game. The loser will play Centerville (District 22-2A runner-up) in the bi-district playoff game. Cross Roads Debate Earns First Place Sweepstakes Honors

The Cross Roads Speech and Debate team won 1st Place Team Sweepstakes Honors at the Leon High School Speech and Debate tournament on Saturday, Oct. 25. The team won competing against 10 schools and 150 students representing 3A and 4A UIL classification schools.

The team finished 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in Cross-Examination Policy Debate. Freshman Julia Harris won top speaker honors in the event. The team finished 4th and 6th in Lincoln-Douglass Debate. They finished 1st, 3rd, and 4th in Extemporaneous speaking. The team finished 2nd in Prose Interpretation. Junior High student Kaden Mattingly represented the team in Congressional Debate, and came out with the win. He earned top speaker honors in the event.
