Services for Tracy Dan Groom will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Life Fellowship Church in Athens under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the funeral home.

Tracy was born on April 16, 1962 in Athens, Texas to parents Billy Truman Groom and Arnell Teel Groom and entered into eternal rest on March 29, 2015 at the age of 52.

Tracy received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in Horticulture and a minor in Business from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1987. He was an avid athlete that excelled in football. He played for Mabank High School, Henderson County Junior College, SFASU and later signed on as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. Tracy was part of the original class that designed and built the first section of the SFASU Mast Arboretum in 1985. Tracy loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, Clark and Conner. Tracy shared a love of making beautiful landscapes along with his youngest son Conner. Clark and Conner were so blessed to be able to work together along beside their dad this past spring break on a couple of landscape projects in the Cedar Creek Lake Area. The boys cherished that time they were able to spend with him. Tracy loved the Lord and loved his church, “Athens Life Fellowship.” In fact his last Facebook post was while he was sitting in the Athens Life Fellowship Coffee Shop, “Food, song and the Lord.”

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Groom; sons, Clark Groom of Galveston, Conner Groom of Eustace; brothers, Micky Groom of Eustace and Lynn Groom of Tyler; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, other loving family members and many more friends.

In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me page has been established in the memory of Tracy Groom for donations in honor of Tracy’s two sons, Clark & Conner Groom with the premature passing of their father. It shows a younger Clark & Conner with their daddy, full of love and life–how Tracy will always be remembered. www.gofundme.com/TracyGroomMemorial
