Obituary: The Rev. Digie M. Hamilton

Funeral services for the Reverend Digie M. Hamilton, 53, Malakoff will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Tyler with Rev. William Burton officiating. Burial will be in Blunder Creek Cemetery, Mount Pleasant under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co.

Rev. Hamilton died August 11, 2014 at Hospice of East Texas, Tyler.

Digie was born April 5, 1961 in Titus County. He attended Mount Pleasant Public Schools and graduated from Paul Quinn College. He was affiliated with both Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church, Palestine and St. Paul A. M. E. Church, Oakwood. He was the owner of ADS Driving School. Rev. Hamilton served on several committees within the A.M.E. Church.

Preceding Digie in death was his parents and one brother.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jasmine Jeffery (John), Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Bobby Thomas, Dallas and Waylon Johnson, Lone Star; four sisters, Bobbie Mae McGill, JoAnn Fields and Sherry Brewer (Richard) all of Mount Pleasant and Vickie Bryson, Lone Star.
