Alewine, JasperFuneral Services for J.T. Alewine, 78, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Malakoff with Bro. Jody Jones officiating. Interment will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Big Hill Cemetery in Big Hill, Texas.

Mr. Alewine went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 25, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.

Jasper Theodore Alewine was born April 3, 1940 in Big Hill, Texas the son of Theodore Alewine and Ethel Elizabeth Holleman Alewine. He was a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Malakoff and a member of the Men’s Three Sunday School Class. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Star Harbor Golf Club. The true loves of his life were his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Eva Little, Juanda D’Ambrosio and his grandson Senior Airman Taylor Sorenson. Continue reading “Obituary: J.T. Alewine”

Obituary: Ingeburg Lipp

obitIngeburg Lipp, 91, born Darmstadt, Germany August 15, 1923 to the home of Wilhelm and Louise Wagner Dyruff passed away Sept. 22, 2014 in Athens. She is survived by her children Walter Lipp and his wife Connie, Kathy Figge, Barbara Meare, Debbie Harding, sister in law Charlotte Boise.

She is preceded in death by her husband Manfred Lipp, and brothers Egon Dyroff and Hans Dyroff.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at the Moorhead Epps Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Pitchford officiating.

Obituary: Charles L. ‘Slim’ Cash

Memorial graveside services for Charles L. “Slim” Cash, 74, of Athens are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 in Old Bethel Cemetery in Van Zandt County with Michael Baldwin officiating.

Mr. Cash passed away Sept. 22, 2014 in Athens.

He was born July 13, 1940 in Van Zandt County to the late Oscar R. and Bernice E. Crabtree Cash. He had lived in Athens the past 20 years and was a carpenter most of his life. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed fishing and gatherings with friends.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Cash, son Charles L. Cash, Jr., daughter Kimberly Cash, both of Missouri, sister Brenda Nevil, Seagoville and three grandchildren.

Obituary: Reggie Howard Berry

scan0273Funeral service for Reggie Howard Berry, 47, of Timberlake, NC is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Trinidad with Bro. George Couch officiating.

Mr. Berry passed away Sept. 19, 2014 in Timberlake, NC.

Reggie was born Sept. 25, 1967 in Athens to Reggie Lee and Lou Berry. Growing up he loved hunting and fishing with his dad. He graduated from Athens High School in 1986. He attended and graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, WY. With his love and passion for music, Reggie taught himself how to play the guitar. He then formed a band called Rogue Saints and recorded a CD.

He was a Baptist by faith and a charter member of New Genesis Baptist Church. The church was established by his dad under the leadership of God.

Reggie is survived by his mother Lou Berry, wife Christine Casazza Berry, sister Rachel McLaughlin and husband Scott, Nephews: Joey Webb and wife Amber, and Jesse Webb, Great Nephews: Kristopher Webb, Joshua Webb, Nickalus Webb, Cazzter Webb, Great Nieces: Bethanie Webb, Lynette Webb, Rosalee Webb, Uncle James and Aunt Fayrene Newell, Aunt Susie Perry, best friend Joe and wife Sharron Euger and several cousins. Obituary: JoAnn ‘Jodie’ Giles

Giles, JoAnn1Funeral services for JoAnn “Jodie” Giles, 68 of Athens, will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at noon at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, Texas.

Ms. Giles passed away on September 15, 2014 near Tyler, Texas.

JoAnn Giles was born December 20, 1945 in Athens, Texas the daughter of Ray Monroe Blakely and Frances Louise Brown Blakely. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and dearly loved her family. She will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Cason Swain and her brother Michael Blakely.

She is survived by her daughters; Shelby Swain and husband Ben of Flint, Texas, Jenna Giles of Flint, Texas; sister, Joyce Navarro and husband Fernando of Athens; sister in law, Linda Blakely of Athens; best friend, Kathy Satterfield of Athens; two grandchildren Hunter Swain and Owen Giles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
