Obituary: J.T. Alewine

Alewine, JasperFuneral Services for J.T. Alewine, 78, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Malakoff with Bro. Jody Jones officiating. Interment will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Big Hill Cemetery in Big Hill, Texas.

Mr. Alewine went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 25, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.

Jasper Theodore Alewine was born April 3, 1940 in Big Hill, Texas the son of Theodore Alewine and Ethel Elizabeth Holleman Alewine. He was a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Malakoff and a member of the Men’s Three Sunday School Class. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Star Harbor Golf Club. The true loves of his life were his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Eva Little, Juanda D’Ambrosio and his grandson Senior Airman Taylor Sorenson.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Alewine of Malakoff; one daughter, Rene’ Sorenson and husband Mike of Minneola; one son, Kevin Alewine and wife Karen of Tatum; five grandchildren, Jonathan Sorenson and wife Kelly, Jared Alewine and wife Michelle, Kristen Cockerham and husband Sgt. William, Caitlin Alewine, Cameron Sorenson; five great grandchildren, Abby Sorenson, Jett Sorenson, Genesis Sorenson, Ryleigh Cockerham, Kinslee Cockerham and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Kevin Alewine, Mike Sorenson, Jonathan Sorenson, Jared Alewine, Cameron Sorenson and Sgt. William Cockerham.

The family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
