Obituary: Frank Sharpe

Graveside Services for Frank Sharpe, 88, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Sharpe passed away on September 9, 2014 in Malakoff, Texas.

Frank Everett Sharpe was born September 13, 1925 in Van Zandt County, Texas the son of Ross and Fannie Ballow Sharpe. He grew up in Henderson County where he developed a love of farming, which he never lost even though he had to go to Dallas to make a living. He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War 2 earning four Bronze Stars. He worked hard, but always had time for humor and was fun to be around. He liked to fish and had a garden as long as he could work one. He loved his family and friends and loyal to both.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Doris Monsell and Jean Brewer; brothers, Virgil and Rudeen Sharpe and son-in-law Lee VanWinkle. He was also preceded by daughter Pam Morgan.

He is survived by his devoted wife and companion of 43 years Hazel Sharpe; daughters, Elaine Algood and husband Bobby, Karen Sharpe, Lisa Sharpe, Brenda Westbrook and husband Ben, Linda Morgan; four grandchildren, Amy Algood, Daniel Dyer, Ben Eric Westbrook, Bobby, McRee; seven great grandchildren; sisters, June Strange, Reba Vanover and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens, Texas.

Obituary: Harold ‘Cozell’ McAfee

McAfeeHarold “Cozell” McAfee was born August 21, 1926 in Mabank, Texas to Henry and Alice McAfee and passed away in Tyler, Texas on September 5, 2014 at the age of 88.

Cozell was a member of Central Baptist Church of Mabank where in the past he served as Music Director for a number of years. He was a long-time supporter of the Mabank community. He served as Mayor, was a member of the Mabank City Council for over 25 years, member of the Volunteer Fire Department for numerous years and was a current member of the Mabank Lions Club. He contributed to bringing music variety shows to the area for fundraising efforts. He recently received his 65 year service pin from the Roddy Chapter of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Mabank Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. He proudly served his country in World War II with the United States Army.

Cozell worked as Service Parts Manager at Tri-County Ford for 20 plus years. In 1982, he established McAfee Insurance Agency where he spent every day until his death. Continue reading “Obituary: Harold ‘Cozell’ McAfee”

Obituary: Diane Mary Keith

Diane Mary KeithþþþÞzž	ÆÔkDiane Mary Keith of Seven Points passed away on September 6, 2014 at the age of 66.

Diane was born on November 23, 1947 in Proctor, Vermont to Romaine Brown and Hazel Fortier Brown.

She is survived by her three sons, Jackie Keith, Kenny and wife Tabitha Keith , Roger Keith, sisters, Hazel Jones and Charmaine Thomas, brother, Romaine Brown, grandchildren, Logan, Oliviana, Jaden, Hunter, Kenali and Kendell, great-grandchildren, Mindy, Jackie, Joshua, Rose, Roger, Julie and Katy.

She was precede in death by her parents, Romaine and Hazel Brown, husband, Jack Keith, sister, Pamela Smallwood, brother, John Brown, half brothers, Louie and Charlie Barone.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from noon to 2 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points. Service will follow at 2 p.m Interment will be held at King Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Pitchford officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Keith, Kenny Keith, Mark Thomas, Joshua Keith, Jackie Keith III and Roger Keith Jr.

Obituary: Betty Fontenot

Betty Fontenot of Malakoff passed away on September 5, 2014 at the age of 80.

Betty was born in Malakoff on February 11, 1934 to Rupert Sims and Jessie Carter Sims.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Leonard Fontenot; daughter, Denise Holder and husband Michael Allen; son Danny and wife Joyce Fontenot; sisters, Hilda Jo Anding, Wanda Jean Hampton, Phyllis Munsterman, Kathy Isgitt, Keetah Holley and Alfa June Spallding; grandchildren, Mathieu Fontenot, Angela Fontenot, Trace Holder and Gary Holder; great-grandchildren, Morgan Holder, Cassidy Holder and Zane Holder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert Sims and Jessie Carter McWhorter, brother, Marlin Nichols.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Post Oak Cemetery in Malakoff.

Obituary: Kathy Hair

KathyServices for Kathy Hair, 59, of Eustace are scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in First Baptist Church in Eustace with Rev. Larry Venable officiating.

Burial will follow in Moorehead Melton Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hair passed away September 4, 2014 in a McKinney Hospital.

She was born June 5, 1955 in Oakland, California to Jesse Wayne and Mabel Louise Ashcraft Carlock. Kathy resided in Garland 32 years where she graduated from Garland High School in 1973.
