Masonic Youth Donate Water to GBC Fire Department

11-8-14 Charity Project--Fire Dept bottled waterThe Gun Barrel City Masonic Youth Rainbow Girls donated cases of bottled water and delivered fresh-baked cookies to the Gun Barrel City Fire Department on Saturday, Nov. 8. The girls noted how much they appreciate the firemen’s service to our community, and look forward to future projects honoring them.

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a service-oriented, leadership organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 20. Rainbow Girls participate in a wide array of activities, including leadership training, service projects, competitions, and annual retreats. Their younger group, the Pledges, have activities for girls ages 7 to 10. Strings for Food, Nov. 22

Musicians who are interested in helping the many people in the local community affected by the recession can now benefit from their helping hand. Guitars Etc. is teaming up with the Independent Music Store Owners Group, D’addario and SIT strings for their fifth annual Food for Strings food drive. The event is taking place on Saturday, November 22nd from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Musicians need to bring at least four non-perishable food items or cash donation (suggested $5 or 5 canned goods), and the experienced staff will give them a brand new set of D’addarioor SIT strings. For a $10 donation Guitars Etc will install the strings, oil the fretboard and polish the guitar. All food collected and cash donations collected will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank. Weinstein Law ‘Bra Line’ Collects 81 Bras for Breast Cancer Awareness

20141103_090115Randi McCullough and Evey Hernandez of Weinstein Law sort through 81 bras which were left on the “Bra Line” at the office to raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer.

Weinstein Law says thank you to everyone who participated. Jeff Weinstein will be donated $500 to the Texas-based National Breast Cancer Foundation because of the fundraiser.

The bras will be donated to the Eastern Hills Church of Christ Clothing Pantry (Joy Works).

Events Scheduled to Help Humane Society of CCL

Two fun events the weekend of Nov. 8 – 9 will help the animals at the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake.

The annual Shelter Yard Sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the refreshed Shelter grounds. Please note the new location. As in previous years, there will be many amazing deals on furniture, household goods, clothing, and other items. Donated goods can be dropped off at the Shelter; deadline is Friday Nov. 6 at 3 p.m.

The Shelter is located 100 yards south of the intersection of Route 274 and Arnold Hills Road, at 10200 County Road 2043 in Tool. Watch for the sign at that intersection. Monarch Utilities Launches Third Annual Project Wishbone

Monarch Utilities I, L.P., a subsidiary of SouthWest Water Company, is pleased to announce the third annual Project Wishbone-Thanksgiving basket giveaway. The program offers ready-to-cook food baskets to qualified Monarch customers who desire to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year, but may not be able to afford one.

Eligible customers will receive a holiday basket filled with everything needed to prepare a family dinner, including yams, green beans, cornbread stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dessert and the customer’s choice of a turkey or ham.
