TVCC Surpasses Play4Kay Goal
On Feb. 14, Trinity Valley Community College teamed up with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to raise awareness — and money — for the fight against breast cancer with a Play 4Kay initiative.
Thursday, TVCC announced the final totals for the fundraiser. According to the @TVCCSports Twitter feed, the college raised $10,200 for the Kay Yow cancer fund.
The goal was $8,000.
The initiative is named in memory of former North Carolina State head women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who died after a third recurrence of breast cancer in January 2009. The movement continues to grow and change lives, especially during February.
THE FINAL TOTAL IS IN — TVCC raised $10,200.00 for the Kay Yow cancer fund. The Play 4Kay goal was $8,000. Thanks for making it happen.

Pinnacle Women Recognize More Community Volunteers
It was with great pleasure that the Pinnacle Women’s Club recognized the efforts of the Genesis Center for its compassion and caring for those in need by offering shelter for domestic violence and chemical dependence who are in a one year recovery program. The center helps women and children who live in Henderson County and surrounding areas. The East Texas Crisis Center’s main focus is legal advocacy for victims of family violence and sexual assault. The Payne Springs Fire Rescue is a volunteer fire department which offers fire protection, rescue, and First Responder Services.
Pinnacle Women were able to contribute to these groups through the community support with their annual garage sale that is held in the fall at the Mabank Pavilion.
