Keep Athens Beautiful Searching For New Board Members

The life blood of any community is that of the members of the community and those who are involved with the organizations that help make the community strong. Volunteers are the members of the community that establish, manage, operate and sustain a great number of organizations in our community. It is these service organizations that make Athens the strong community that it is, without the volunteer the city and county, in more than one case, would find itself having to pick up the services that are provide.

Keep Athens Beautiful President Peggy Rhodes is heading a search committee for new board members. The board members will need to have an interest in the continued upkeep and beautification of Athens. Board members are asked to serve on committees, help in the development and operations of special events.

Mission

The guidelines for the new KAB board members are persons who:

  • Live or conduct business in the Athens
  • Concerned with the appearance of the Athens Community to Tourism and Citizens alike
  • Have a practical knowledge of financial and organizational skills.
  • Have established relationships within the Athens community.
  • Able to attend monthly meeting and participate in projects and events throughout the community

Rhodes, former school board member, YMCA board member now owner of Red Line Power Equipment in Athens, said, “Anyone is invited to discuss with us their ability to serve on the KAB board, our board is not limited to members of the Athens community. We want anyone who may be interested in Athens but not relevant to where someone lives, a nomination of someone may be passed along to the Keep Athens Beautiful office by calling (903) 675-7961. Keep Athens Beautiful is a vital organization to the City of Athens.

The Keep Athens Beautiful is an established non-profit organization designed to support the cleanliness and beautification of Athens through sponsoring educational programs, developing community awareness through clean-ups and providing encouragement and assistance to the local artistic talent.
