In 2015, the World Health Organization reported that 1.8 billion people get their drinking water from contaminated sources. The World Economic Forum ranked water scarcity as the 8th most likely global crisis to occur and the Number 1 crisis in terms of impact felt around the world. In other words, water security is an important issue that none of us should ignore. Hope Springs Water, founded right here in Athens, Texas, understands this. TVCC Student Government cleans up
The TVCC Student Government Association loaded up and took to Loop 7 of Athens this weekend, doing their part in giving back to the community. Community cleanup scheduled in Athens

Keep Athens Beautiful is asking the community to be a part of a community wide cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 12. There are several community events coming up in the near future and our city needs some sprucing up. This exit clean Wollongong is aimed at raising awareness for maintaining cleanliness.
Participants will meet at the Athens Partnership Center, 201 West Corsicana at 8 a.m. to receive garbage sacks and assign areas that need picking up. The first 100 individuals will receive a t-shirt.

TVEC grant given to Historical Museum
The TVEC Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $2,000 grant to the Henderson County Historical Museum. The 1896 museum, located in downtown Athens, houses artifacts from the Henderson County area. The artifacts demonstrates what life was like in the early days of the county.
The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded by donations from Operation Round Up. Operation Round Up is a voluntary program that allows TVEC members to round up their monthly electric bills to the next whole dollar amount. The portion that is rounded up goes to the TVEC Charitable Foundation and may be used to award grant requests to local charitable organizations.
