Seasonal workers job fair

Workforce Solutions East Texas needs Henderson County employers for the Seasonal Staffing Job Fair on Tues., Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. – noon.

Previously this job fair has had excellent participation from both employers and job seekers. With the current economy, it’s no surprise that a record number of job seekers now need employers and vice versa. This fair is a great way to fill those vacant positions and help job seekers earn a living. The job fair is open to anyone of any age and the job seekers attending will be equipped with a whole range of skills. If you have seasonal jobs, part-time jobs, temporary jobs, and yes, full-time jobs, please use this excellent resource for getting good, quality applicants and save yourself and staff a lot of time and money advertising. No job is too silly to advertise here and it’s almost a guarantee that someone attending the fair will want to be employed by you. There is nowhere else you can spend so little time and effort and get so many prospects. It does not mean you MUST hire someone that day but can take applications, review them, and contact the prospective person you are interested in. Even if you don’t have applications, Workforce Solutions can provide them for you.

A large number of job seekers are interested in local employers so please help Workforce Solutions to have a good representation of employers from the Henderson County area for this event.

Brookshire’s press release

Regional grocery chain Brookshire Grocery Co. today announced it will donate more than $100,000 to high schools in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas by sponsoring the Brookshire’s Extra Point Instant Win Game sweepstakes Aug. 29 – Nov. 9 at schools in the company’s operating area.

To enter, simply text the word FOOTBALL to the short code 43101. The 10,000 weekly prizes include $500 Brookshire’s gift cards, free yourpoints and free Brookshire’s Brand items. In addition, Brookshire’s store directors will make check presentations to each participating schools at a home football game during the regular season.

“Community involvement and education are priorities at BGC, which is why we are giving back to our communities by investing in our local high schools,” said BGC President and CEO Rick Rayford. “We believe this money will go toward improving educational and athletic programs, and we are very proud to be a part of the special football game celebrations.”

Cedar Creek Lake fall business expo announced

chamber logoCCL Chamber press release

Applications are now being accepted for the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s new Cedar Creek Lake Fall Business Expo, slated for Oct. 17, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. at the Mabank Pavilion. Open to non-members, as well as members, the Business Expo is an exciting new event for CCLACC and will bring a great deal of value for the Cedar Creek Lake business community and the consumers in the area.

This rare opportunity for networking business-to-business in a professionally presented setting will be free to the public and well advertised in advance of the Expo date. The time of year was selected because the chamber felt it would be a perfect time for the business community to start holiday promotions. Local businesses would be able to advertise their services and build brand awareness with business banners similar to those on sites like signatureprint.co.uk as well as other types of promotion.

A few years ago, the chamber was able to host a very well-received expo, but lost the venue. The Mabank Pavilion now has solar screens that can be lowered if necessary and the Mabank Fire Department is generously allowing use of the facility for the community event. Chamber President Jo Ann Hanstrom, said, “We’re excited to be able to offer this new, totally business-related event to our members and the rest of the business community, as well as the public. We’re counting on great weather at that time of year, but having the solar screens in place ‘just in case’ is definitely a plus and was a factor in the board’s decision to host another Expo.” Continue reading “Cedar Creek Lake fall business expo announced”

Brookshire’s promotion to help local VFDs

Brookshire’s press release

Brookshire’s today launched a promotion with Gatorade to benefit local firefighters across Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

From Aug. 28 – Sept. 24, customers will receive 200 bonus yourpoints for every five 32 oz. bottles of Gatorade purchased in a single transaction in a Brookshire’s store. Consumers are encouraged to then donate Gatorade, which will be given to local fire stations where Brookshire’s Food Stores are located.

Donation bins are located in the stores, and all Gatorade will be donated to a local fire station predetermined by the store.

“Our firefighters are working very hard to keep our communities safe, and we are proud to partner with our customers to give back,” said Rick Rayford, BGC president and CEO. “We hope customers will take advantage of the bonus 200 yourpoints and generously give to support their local fire stations.”

The selected fire stations will receive the Gatorade at the end of the promotion.

Please visit your local Brookshire’s store for more information, including information on the benefiting fire station.
