The Texas Education Agency released the 2015 public school accountability ratings last Friday. The reports showed the Athens ISD and all its campuses “Met Standard,” which is currently the highest designation available.

“I am so proud of our students and staff,” said AISD Superintendent Blake Stiles. “The result of their hard work and dedication is that many academic banners will be flying on buildings throughout the school district.”

Comparing this year to last year shows that Athens ISD improved in several areas on all campuses. The district also earned a number of “distinctions,” including South Elementary, which earned all the distinctions it was eligible for.

“Not only did all five of our campuses meet standard, but three of the five earned distinctions, and we only expect to see continued improvement in the future,” Stiles said. “I am so very proud to be a Hornet.”
