Cardinal Pride Luncheon Scheduled Monday

TVCC LogoThe next Cardinal Pride Luncheon of the 2014 fall semester is scheduled Monday at Ol’ West Steak House.

The event will begin at noon and the cost of the meal is $10.

Featured speakers will be all Trinity Valley Community College coaches. They are: Brad Smiley (football), Kris Baumann (men’s basketball), Gerald Ewing (women’s basketball), Tosha Spain (volleyball), Ashley Johnston (softball) and Khris Franklin (cheerleading).

There will be door prizes.

The purpose of the luncheon is to provide Cardinal boosters and fans an opportunity to hear from the coaches and interact with athletic department staff and athletes.

The public is invited to attend.

Teen Court Session Scheduled

The Henderson County Teen Court and the Community Coalition Partnership of Henderson County will be conducting a session on Saturday, November 1st, about what happens if a driver is arrested for a DUI. Guest speakers include local attorney Sam Smith, a representative from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Highway Patrolman Josh Jenkins and CCP-HE Coordinator Robert Sullivan. The session is free and parents, adolescents and teens are encouraged to attend. The fun begins at 10 am, in the town council chambers at 202 W Scott St, Athens.

New Chef Takes Over at Athens Country Club

The new chef at the Athens Country Club is certifiable … and he has the documentation to prove it.

Saul Ramirez, who has been at the country club for two months, is a Certified Executive Chef by the American Culinary Federation. Cindy Davis, the general manager at the Athens Country Club, said Ramirez is the first certified executive chef in the club’s history.

He has a pretty simple message: “If you are a member here, why would you want to drive to Dallas or Tyler when you can have the same type of meal here for a modest price?” Continue reading “New Chef Takes Over at Athens Country Club”
