Wreaths Across America

IMG_1246CWO Retired Dan Cothran, Vietnam Veteran, places a wreath on his brother’s grave marker, Bill Cothran, as part of “Wreaths Across America.” Dan is the husband of Susan Cothran a member of the Sarah Maples Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. They are at the National Cemetery in Dallas. Wreaths Across America is a wonderful organization. It allows anyone who wants to lay a wreath on a Veterans grave in any state where there is a National Cemetery to do so. The web site WreathsAcrossAmerica.org is open to anyone. Its too late to order a wreath for this year. You can name any cemetery in any state and request that a certain veteran have a wreath on his grave. Volunteers, such as Boy Scouts, DAR members and others will lay the wreaths. There is a cost to the wreaths.

Susan is laying her wreath on Albert Deets grave marker who was a POW during WWII. He was kept on a Japanese ship when it was sunk by Americans who had no idea that Americans were being kept on the ship. The goal is to have a wreath on every Veterans grave at Christmas. The wreaths are beautiful and the cemetery is awesome.

  1. Last week we saw volunteers placing the wreaths on sites at Arlington National Cemetery and vowed to volunteer to be a part of this in 2016 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
