OK, so here we go …. the National Weather Service has the following Winter Weather Advisory tonight through tomorrow night. Keep warm, stay safe, and be careful if you have to be on the roads. I will be posting weather related updates here, on the website and on Twitter @hctxnow

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM CST MONDAY…

* TIMING…LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY.

* PRECIPITATION TYPE…MAINLY SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS…SLEET ACCUMULATIONS AROUND 1/4 OF AN INCH WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. ICE ACCUMULATIONS FROM FREEZING RAIN UP TO 1/10 OF AN INCH.

* TEMPERATURES…FALLING TO BELOW FREEZING LATE TONIGHT AND REMAINING IN THE UPPER 20S TO NEAR 30 THROUGH THE DAY MONDAY.

* MAIN IMPACT…LIGHT SLEET AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES HAZARDOUS TO TRAVEL ON.

* OTHER IMPACTS…TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN NEAR FREEZING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. ANY ICE ON AREA ROADWAYS WILL LIKELY REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON WHEN MELTING MAY BEGIN TO OCCUR.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER PRECIPITATION MAY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND PLAN ON SOME TRAVEL DELAYS.
