Waxahachie Mayor John Wray today announced his campaign for the Republican nomination for Texas State Representative in the House District that covers Ellis County and part of Henderson County. The election will be held in 2014 to this open seat to replace State Rep. Jim Pitts, who recently announced his retirement.
Wray is a fiscal and pro-family conservative who has served on the Waxahachie City Council for five years. Wray wants to take his conservative values to Austin and he sees many dangers facing our state in upcoming years.
“The issues facing Texas are huge,” said Wray. “We must stop Obamacare before it is allowed to bankrupt our state. A large part of Obamacare is subsidized by states, and there is not a state in this nation that has enough extra money to pay the price tag.”
“We must protect the economic miracle of Texas,” said Wray. “That means keeping taxes low and keeping regulations to a minimum. That will be my approach in Austin. As a small business owner, I understand how damaging government regulations can be to job creators.”
Wray is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University Of Texas School Of Law. He is an attorney serving small businesses and families in Ellis County. John also co-owns a small title company in Ellis County. Wray is active in the community and frequently gives his time to civic and charitable organizations. John and his wife, Michele, have two children, Morgan and Patrick. They attend First United Methodist Church.
