On Thursday, April 2, at approximately 9 a.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator Kendell Wellman, Investigator Billy Jack Valentine, Investigator Brad Gray, Investigator Robert Powers and Investigator Cayce Hampton attempted to serve a felony warrant on a subject believed to be at a residence on Hwy. 59 in Athens.
While at the location, Investigators located Angela Sheltman who had outstanding warrants from Athens Police Department. Sheltman was arrested for those warrants. Investigators also made contact with Phillip Conner who was also at the property. Conner was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamines and was placed under arrest.
A subsequent search of Conner’s residence led to the discovery of additional suspected methamphetamines. Both subjects were transported to the Henderson County Jail. During the bookin process. Sheltman was found to be concealing suspected methamphetamines on her person.
Sheltman was charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a third degree felony, in addition to her outstanding warrants. Conner was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, over 4 grams under 200 grams.
