Obituary: James Edward Mayfield

Services for James Edward Mayfield, 61 of Murchison are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Van Zandt County.

Mr. Mayfield departed this life to begin life everlasting with our Lord and Savior April 1, 2015.

He was born April 30, 1953 in Crane to the late Benjamin Claridge and Rebecca Ruth Mason Mayfield. Jim was a 1971 graduate of Brownsboro High School. Shortly after graduation he joined the U. S. Air Force and was stationed four years in Okinawa, Japan during Vietnam. He retired from Oncor, formerly TXU in 2010 after 35 years. Jim was living his retirement dreams of being a cattle farmer on family land and with his sweetheart Karen made those dreams reality. He will be remembered by all for his love of life and laughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son Jacob Scott Mayfield.

Survivors include his best friend and partner, wife Karen Diane Mayfield (Kee); sons Jake Mayfield, Cody Mayfield (Elizabeth), Ryan Mayfield (Jessica), Jeff Dudley (Vanessa), Tim Dudley and Lucas Parks; daughters Kathy Mayfield and Carrie Henson (Eric); Jim adored his grandchildren which included 3 grandsons and 7 granddaughters; brothers Donald Mayfield (Carol), Roger Mayfield (Lisa), two nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
