TVCC softball is perfect at tournament

The Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals kept their fall exhibition softball record perfect Saturday at the Bossier Parish Tournament in Bossier City, La.

Coach Ashley Johnston’s squad won three games to improve to 5-0. The Lady Cardinals twice defeated Shreveport Storm Elite, 5-4 and 7-2, and host Bossier Parish, 7-0.

In the first win over the Storm Elite, Courtney Johnson gave the Lady Cardinals four strong innings in the circle, giving up just one hit and allowing no runs.

Desirae Delgado led the Lady Cardinals at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a like number of RBI. Angelica Navarro and Micah Shaw also had a pair of singles drive in runs.

Against Bossier Parish, Madison McDonald went five innings in the circle and surrendered just two hits.

Mikayla Castro paced the plate effort. She went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Haley Durden, Kylie Murdock, Kayla Trekell and Torri Hedrick had two singles each.

Hedrick was the top hitter in the second game against the Storm Elite, going 3-for-3 and driving in three runs. Karisa Watson went 2-for-2.

Next action for the Lady Cardinals is Saturday, Sept. 26, in tournament action at McNeese State University.
