Trinity Valley Community College Science Club and Phi Theta Kappa students traveled to Palestine Saturday, Dec. 12, to volunteer at the Curious Museum’s Super Saturday. Students Nazik Orazgeldiyeva and Niyaz Murtazin demonstrated the unusual properties of a non-Newtonian fluid, commonly called “oobleck” from the Dr. Seuss story “Bartholomew and the Oobleck.” They also donated to the museum a planetary mat that helps teach the difference between mass and weight by showing what a person’s weight would be on each of the planets.

Curious is a hands-on exhibit in Palestine, based on the world-famous Exploratorium in San Francisco, CA. The Curious exhibit uses hands-on experiments to promote creative and innovation thinking skills that are important for all ages, and is designed for individuals and families, for anyone who has ever been curious. It engages preschoolers through adults in a fun, engaging and educational format.
