The Trinity Valley Community College family is mourning the death of sophomore basketball player Melvin Swift today.
Swift reportedly died of a gunshot wound in Houston Tuesday night.
“Today, we were saddened by the news that Melvin Swift has passed away,” said TVCC Director of Communications Marlo Bitter. “His warm smile and presence on campus will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Swift family during this time.”
The college did not release any details connected with Swift’s death, but multiple news outlets including this Houston TV station reported his death may have been connected with an attempted burglary nearly Swift’s family home.
