Police Arrest Robbery Suspects After Extended Search

Wednesday, July 9, at approximately 1 a.m., the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a robbery that had just occurred at a gaming establishment located on Richardson Road off U.S. Highway 175 west near Eustace. A white female and a Hispanic male had reportedly robbed the attendant of the establishment and fled the location with a quantity of cash. Deputies, Investigator Brad Gray and Captain Bryan Tower responded to the location. Investigators were able to obtain a vehicle description and a description of the two suspects.

During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify the two suspects and the possible suspect vehicle. The suspects were identified as Manuel Herminio Hernandez and Erika Jo Guill out of Gun Barrel City. The suspect vehicle was identified as a white Chrysler Town and Country minivan. This information was disseminated to area law enforcement.

On July 10, at approximately 8 a.m., Sheriff Deputy Jodie Sorrells, during a routine patrol, located the suspect vehicle at an address off Sailfish in the Bonita Point Subdivision. Analysis Puts Henderson County in Lowest Third of the Country

A recent data project tried to determine which counties in the United States were the hardest to live in. 

The Upshot — a data analysis group teamed up with the New York Times — ranked each county in the nation according to the following six categories: education (percentage of residents with at least a bachelor’s degree), median household income, unemployment rate, disability rate, life expectancy and obesity.

Henderson County ranked 2,261 out of 3,135 … or in the bottom 28 percent.

The individual numbers were:

  • Median Income: $41,000
  • College Education: 14.2 percent
  • Unemployment: 7.3 percent
  • Disability: 1.8 percent
  • Life Expectancy: 74.9 years
  • Obesity: 39 percent
