Several local businesses have joined with Ellsberry, author of “The Spaniel Family” books, to bring Operation Thanksgiving to Bel Air Elementary. Each second-grade student there received an autographed copy on Friday of “The Spaniel Family’s Thanksgiving.”
“We wanted to reach out to a group of students in Athens to let them know the community cares about them and wants them to know the joy of reading,” said Ellsberry.
The author will return to each classroom in three weeks to answer questions and discuss why she wrote the book, how she put ideas together to create the story and how we can be thankful every day.
Atmos Energy, Salon NAVA, Reigning Jewels, Athens Spine Center and The Retreat Day Spa provided the Thanksgiving books. The hope is to expand the program next year.
