On Friday, Aug. 21, at approximately 11:07 p.m. Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Huckabee conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Sand Springs Drive in Athens. Huckabee found the back seat passenger, Brandon Mcclure, to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and narcotic prescription pills not prescribed to him. McClure was placed under arrest and booked into the Henderson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 > 1 gram < 4 grams and possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 3 – 28 grams. Judge Milton Adams set bonds totaling $15,000 and McClure remains in custody.
On Sunday, Aug. 23, Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenny Collard initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Broken Bow in the Cherokee Shores sub-division. A routine records check revealed that the driver, Raven Pope, did not have a valid driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. Pope was placed under arrest and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia commonly used in the distribution of methamphetamine was located.
A search of the passenger, Billy Bridwell, revealed additional suspected methamphetamine. Bridwell told the deputy that he sold methamphetamine.
Pope and Bridwell were transported to the Henderson County Justice Center in Athens where they were each charged with Manufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram (a state jail felony punishable by up to 2 years in a state jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000). Pope was also charged with Expired Driver’s License and Fail to Provide Proof of Insurance both Class C misdemeanors. Pope and Bridwell each posted $8,500 bonds and were released.
