Sheriff Office Warns of Jury Duty Scam

Police BeatPress release

Sheriff Ray Nutt wants to assure the citizens of Henderson County that the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is NOT calling, and will not call citizens to inform them that they are in contempt of court for not showing up for a jury summons.

There has been a recent increase in complaints to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office of people receiving calls from persons representing themselves as officers of the Sheriff’s Office. The caller then informs the citizen that they have a warrant and it can be resolved by purchasing a pre-paid credit card.

If there is a valid Contempt of Court warrant issued, a Deputy Sheriff will seek you out and return you in persno to the issuing court authority.

The calls are a scam.

Sheriff Nutt wants to encourage all citizens that are summons by mail to show up for their civic duty, but not to fall for this all too popular scam.

If you have any questions please call the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 903-675-5128.
