Purity Salon & Spa of Athens (Purity Salon & Spa) located, one block West of N. Tyler Street on Industrial Drive, has had a hallway dedicated to the imaginative pen & inks of abstract artist, Carolyn Ellis since this past February. This month, however, Rori Brownlow, owner of Purity Salon & Spa, has taken matters a step further by naming Ellis, Purity’s Artist in Residence!
The whole idea of a salon/spa having an Artist in Residence is so innovative, even odd, you might wonder what’s going on. Here’s what Purity Salon & Spa’s owner, Rori Brownlow, has to say on the subject: “I’m not sure why, but I was interested in Carolyn’s artwork as soon as I saw it. When Carolyn started telling me what she saw in her pen and inks, I got even more excited about her work.”
“Once I got the idea that you can actually find a whole range of very personal stories in each and every one of Carolyn’s graphics, I knew I had to have them here at Purity! When Carolyn recently shared a quote with me by Albert Einstein about creativity being intelligence having fun, I decided to ask Carolyn to join us at Purity Salon as our exclusive artist, giving her freedom to exhibit as much work as she likes here. From this decision, the idea of Carolyn becoming Purity Salon’s Artist in Residence was born! Carolyn doesn’t live here of course – but a substantial exhibit of her pen and inks do!”
