Two major poetry events are coming to town in the next two weeks at The Color of Ideas Community Arts Center — located just off the Square at 207 E. Tyler St. The first event is an Art & Soul Poetry Night, which is scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. Charlotte Renk, Ph.D. and Victoria Phillips will be the presenting poets. There will be live music and light refreshment. If you need convincing that poetry is alive and thriving here in Athens, then you will want to check this event out! Bring a friend!
The second Poetry Event The Color of Ideas is offering this month — Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — is a poetry workshop entitled, “Priming the Heart and Mind for Art.” Led by Charlotte Renk, Ph.D. This three-hour workshop is going to be a life changer for anyone serious about improving their poetry. Considering Dr. Renk’s 35 years of teaching experience, hundreds of published articles, and three poetry books in print, who would expect less! If you are a poet at heart then by all means dont let anything keep you from missing this chance to study with an eminently credentialed English professor and working poet!
