Obituary: Morris Wayne Kitzmann

A memorial service for Morris Wayne Kitzmann, 76 of Palestine is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Houston National Cemetery. Mr. Kitzmann passed away July 4, 2015 in Athens.

He was born November 18, 1938 in Houston to Burnett Hugo and Mildred Vandergriff Kitzmann. Morris served in the United States Navy. He retired from International Paper Company.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Outstanding Warrants, Methamphetamines

On Tuesday, July 21, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant Matt Jistel performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Henderson County Road 4117 and Anderson County Road 309. During the traffic stop, Jistel was informed that the operator of the vehicle, Amanda Lindsey, had two outstanding warrants, one out of the Athens Police Department and one out of the Chandler Police Department. Obituary: Chuck Vest

Services for Chuck Vest, 64 of Brownsboro are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Welch and
Rev. Danny Bristow officiating. Mr. Vest passed away July 19, 2015 at his residence.

He was born July 24, 1950 in Fort Worth to Edgar Charles and Margaret Elaine Lasater Vest. Chuck served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

He was a Shriner 30 years. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. Chuck loved woodworking and was an all around handyman. He was a resident of Houston from 1974 until 2003then moving to Brownsboro. He was a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Corrections Michaels Unit six years retiring in 2015. Obituary: Jo Gartside

GartsidejoFuneral services for Jo Gartside, 89 of Montgomery, formerly of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Fondren officiating. Burial will follow in Becks Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gartside went to be with the Lord July 19, 2015 in Conroe.

She was born August 25, 1925 in Terrell to J.O. “Pat” and Ruby Mae Moon Palmer. She married Craig Gartside in Anderson County July 5, 1945. She was a cheerful, generous, loving wife, mother, granny and friend. Jo loved working her three acre garden. She was a wonderful seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed being with her family.
