Obituary: Wanda Marshall

Graveside services for Wanda Marshall, 86, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Modoc Cemetery with Bro. Les Rea, former pastor of Modoc Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Services will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wandie passed on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Athens, Texas.

Wanda Fae Carlisle Marshall was born September 15, 1931 in Anderson County the daughter of Noah T. Carlisle and Addie Hancock Carlisle. She was a member of the Modoc Missionary Baptist Church in Athens, was remembered for her servant’s heart and beautiful smile. “Mamaw” enjoyed her flowers, feeding the birds, and cooking for others; but she treasured most the precious time spent with her children and their families. She was a Special Education Teacher’s Aid with the Athens Independent School District for over 21 years before her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joe M. Marshall.

She is survived by her three children, Joe A. Marshall of Athens, Linda Pierce and husband Dewey of Larue, Janis Travis and husband Lynn of Athens; one sister Letha Gibbs of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Marie Reilly, Snapper Piece, Skipper Deem, Bryan Crews, Courtney Haynes, Anthony Travis, Joey Marshall; fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
