Funeral services for Vera Baker, 96, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.
Ms. Baker passed away at her home on July 29, 2014 in Athens, Texas.
Vera Walker Baker was born August 1, 1917, in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Sidney Eugene Walker and Lera Loveless. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens and a citizen of Henderson County since the age of 2. Vera retired in 1982 after 20 years with Curtis Mathis as a Quality Control Inspector. She loved the outdoors, operated her tractor, and mowed the property up until 2013. Being an independent person, she continued to run the family ranch after her husband’s death. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and her husband, Raymond W. Baker.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews
The family will visit with friends from 1-2:00 P.M. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
