Funeral Services for Stella Mae Pate, 87, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with interment following at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens.
Ms. Pate passed away on May 25, 2014 in Athens, Texas.
Stella Mae Stallings Pate was born August 8, 1926 in Wright City, Oklahoma the daughter of Robert Lee Stallings and Vertie Hawthorn Stallings. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Athens and a dedicated, proud member and Grand Noble of the Rebecca Lodge #23. Stella loved playing games and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband of 22 years, Carl “Pete” Pate and her beloved daughter, Jerry Ann Shirey McPhail.
She is survived by her son, Dan W. Shirey of Palestine; four grandchildren, Wes and Amy Taylor, Lonnie and Donna Taylor, Dickie Taylor, Christie and David Edmiston; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to a charity of their choice.
Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 A.M. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.
