Obituary: Leon Ballow

Funeral services for Leon Ballow 82, Murchison have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Murchison with Rev. Daniel Stone officiating.

Burial will follow at Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Ballow passed away Tuesday morning in Athens.

He was born in Van Zandt County, Texas to the late Wilford Dewey and Myrtle Alma Thurston Ballow. He had been a resident of Murchison for the past 46 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Murchison. In his younger days he loved to play softball and was an avid drag racer. He loved to go fishing or hunting but his passion was playing dominos with his friends. He was very talented and was able to fix most anything that was broken.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pam Ballow, granddaughter; Taylor Nix, sister; Alma Ward.

Survivors include his sons; Danny Ballow, Athens, Troy Ballow, Murchison, Jeffrey Ballow, Murchison, daughters; Nicole Nix and husband Tracy, Murchison, Kellie Ballow, Murchison, Tammy Williams, Durant, Ok., grandchildren; Tiffany Nix, Tyler Nix, Anthony Trujano, Dylan Ballow, Marlena Ballow, Kennedy Ballow, Klayton Ballow, D.J. Powell, Jason Powell, Brandie AAB, Heather Powell, great-grandson; Bentley Smith.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Nix, Tracy Nix, Dylan Ballow, Anthony Trujano, Chris Smith, Bobby Ward.

Honorary pallbearers are Walt Ottaberry, Shawn Ottaberry and Kevin DeWalt.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday Evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
