Jamie Kay Moorhead (Southard) of Gun Barrel City grew up in New Mexico, was raised in the Kenna, N.M. Community Church, where she taught Sunday School, graduated from Elida, N.M. High School, and earned her Bachelors of Science and Masters in Psychology with honors from Eastern New Mexico University, is a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Mabank and is past clinic director of Lakes Regional Mental Health Mental Retardation Center, in Terrell, Texas.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Jerry, cherished son Evan Moorhead and Brittany Willingham, sister Kate Southard, brother Sam Southard and wife Melissa, Tim Southard, and wife Laura Grandson Mason Moorhead, step-mother Betty Southard, school mates and lifelong friends the Elida divas Cindy Boone, Betty Price, and Ann Pettigrew, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family members and friends.
There to greet her at heaven’s gate were her grandparents Frank and Kathleen Southard, Mays and Margie Jenkins, Delia Jenkins, parents James and Jean Southard, nephew Slade Southard, and the many other aunts and uncles that were pioneer ranching families around the community of Kenna, New Mexico where she grew up.
Jamie gave up her courageous two and half year battle with ALS on the evening of October 13, 2014.
The visitation will be Saturday morning Oct. 18, 2014 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Moorhead Epps Funeral Home Chapel.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Jamie was the sweetest, kindest lady. My heart breaks for her loving family.
I worked with Jamie for 11 years, she was a hard worker and fun to be around. Her friends and co-workers will miss her greatly.
