Memorial services for Herbert James “Jim” Harris, 69, of Murchison are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, The Colony, Texas,under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
He passed away Aug. 2, 2013 in Murchison.
Mr. Harris was born April 24, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA, to Herbert James and Florence Marie Walters Harris.
Jim grew up in Portsmouth, VA. where he graduated high school. After school he joined the Army where he served with the 82nd Airborn. He married Paula Bannon and had three wonderful girls. Jim moved to Texas in 1976. In 1980 he married Jean Bates of El Dorado, AR. and spent the last 33 years together. Jim enjoyed woodworking with his grandchildren.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Nicole Marie Kirkendall.
Surviving are wife, Jean Harris of Murchison; daughter, Diana Edmundson of Flower Mound; son, Michael Barker of Lakewood Village; daughter, Jamisa and Chad Kinchen of Austin; son, Charles Barker of Monroe, LA.; daughter, Kisha and Jerome Parra of Hutto, Texas; son, James and Claudia Brandon of Frisco, Texas; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
