Obituary: Faye Herrera

HerreraFuneral services for Faye Herrera, 74, of Malakoff, Texas are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff with Bro. Blake Moore and Bro. Jody Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery in Athens.

Mrs. Herrera passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2015 in Tyler, Texas surrounded by her family and loving husband Rafael.

Sharon Faye Burge Herrera was born October 8, 1940 in Rosby’s Rock, West Virginia the daughter of John Clifford Burge and Florence Beryl Conner Burge. She was a member of First Baptist Malakoff and enjoyed taking part in various church activities. She loved collecting antiques, spending time making arts and crafts and was a very talented painter. Faye was a loving wife, mother and sister and will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Lila Kaye Neely, her brothers, Edwin Wayne, Clyde Beryl, Clifford Ferl and John Wilbert Burge, brothers in law, Robert Padgett, Chester Huggins, Clarence “Booty” Miller, Joe Herrera, Julio Herrera, Antulio Herrera and her sisters in law, Maria Molina, Amelia Gonzalez and Victoria Webb.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Rafael Herrera of Malakoff; daughter Cathy Whitehead of Moundsville, WV; four sisters, Irene Miller and Helen Huggins both of Moundsville, WV, Sue Padgett of Westland, Michigan, Mylene Collins of Beallsville, Ohio; two brothers in law, Carl Lee Collins of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Leonard Lee Neely of Cameron, WV and three sisters in law, Sarah Herrera of Van, Paula Tovar and Elisa Herrera both of San Antonio.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.
