Obituary: Betty Sue Tapley Wilson

Services for Betty Sue Tapley Wilson, 72, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral home with Bro Gene Bishop and Bro. Johnny Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in Malakoff  Cemetery.

Betty passed away peacefully July 16, 2014 at ETMC- Athens.

She was born March 27, 1942 to Ellis L. and Myrtie Fuller Tapley. She was raised in Malakoff  but resided in Athens for the majority of her adult life.
She worked 20 years for Curtis Mathis and Argon Medical. Betty loved country music and spent many a Saturday night scootin them boots across the floor…but family always came first. Betty loved and was loved by many of her family and friends. She will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Marie Perkins, Virginia Eggleston, and Ima Jean Massey; four brothers James, Billy, Jerry, Donnie Tapley, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty is survived by her  children; two sons and daughters in law Tommy and Judy Wilson of Athens, Timmy and Carolyn Wilson of Bullard; one daughter and son in law Becky and Richard Paul of Athens; niece/caregiver RaEtta Wilson Williams; two brothers and sisters in law Roy and Joyce Tapley, Ronnie and Jerry Tapley of Greenville; two sisters and brother in law Wanda and Wallace Moore, and Evelyn Armstrong of Fairfield, and sister in law Dorothy Tapley; 11 grandchildren Nathan Paul and wife Jordan, Richard Paul and wife Kristin, Amanda Wayland and husband Derrick, Cory, Scott, and Brandon Wilson; John Harvey and companion Kodi; Tim Wilson Jr and wife Tina, Misty Ashton, and Ashley and Preslea Wilson, 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and her loving dog Chloe.

For tribute to their Nannie all the grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

  1. Aunt Betty was also preceeded in death by her brother Robert Wayne Tapley and survived by her sister in law Christine Tapley
