Services for Beatrice Myrtle Thornton are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Judson Baptist Church of Cayuga.
Bea joined her Heavenly Father July 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family following a short illness.
She was born March 22, 1927 in Bomarton to Ellis and Myrtle Harris Roberts. Bea was Grannie Bea, Aunt Bea, Mother, loving wife and friend to all. She worked for Kroger Grocery 21 years until retiring to enjoy more time on the lake. She was a dedicated member of Judson Baptist Church of Cayuga. Bea will be remembered for her love of fishing, cooking, traveling and most of all her love for family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Holly, Marvin, and Wallace; sister Roberta and loving son Clark Thornton.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 plus years C. L. Thornton, Jr., precious dog Chiquita; children Jimmie Leonard of Midland, Debra Leonard Lawhead and husband Fred of Bossier City, Louisiana, Ellis Leonard Smith and husband Ronny of Midland, Tami Thornton Hooe of Athens, Ret Thornton of Cayuga; grandchildren Trey Leonard and wife Dezarae, Randy Leonard and wife Jordan, Tia Lindey, Colt Leonard, Amy Smith and husband Eric, Dale Smith and wife Kasey, Kevin Smith, Casey Smith, Rusty Leonard and wife Kerry, Brittany Hooe and Brooke Thornton; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Honoring Bea as pallbearers will be John Hooe, Lee Hunt, Carl Kelly, Bill King, Lewis Page, Dewey Shaw, Eric Smith, Ted Thornton, Lee Hunt.
A time of visitation will be 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
