Obituary: Barbara Susan Sanders Major

Barbara Susan Sanders Majors, 90 of Athens passed away May 4, 2015 in Athens. A private interment will be scheduled at a later date.

She was born December 30, 1924 in Syracuse, New York to Arthur James and Bertha Elizabeth Erhard. During World War II she enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi as an air traffic controller. She met Doyle Maurice Majors during their service there and they married November 4, 1945. After the war they made their home in Athens and were married over 58 years until his death in 2004. Barbara was a dedicated homemaker and care giver. She loved her family, animals and was an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Myra Louise Sanders, daughter in law Barbara Cook Majors.

Survivors include her sons Gene and Lynn of San Marcos, Glenn and Nelda of Eustace; grandchildren Christine Majors of Fort Worth, Jessica and Michael Ehrhardt of Liberty Hill, Parker and Amy Majors of Athens, Kelly and Ryan Anderson of San Antonio and Carrie and Jim Lane of San Antonio; great grandchildren Nora Majors, Audrey Majors, Eric Anderson, Grant Anderson, Eleanor Anderson, Sadie Anderson, Dawson Lane and Wyatt Lane.
