Services for Audrey Tedford Dyer, 75, Murchison are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in First United Methodist Church, Murchison with Rev. Brooks Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.
Mrs. Dyer passed away January 27, 2014 in Tyler.
She was born July 23, 1938 in Murchison to the late Homer and Earlie Mae Saxon Tedford. Following graduation from Brownsboro High School in 1956, Audrey studied nursing at Texarkana College where she earned her Licensed Vocational Nurses Certification. She worked a number of years in various hospitals and nursing homes. She married Carleton Dyer September 17, 1957. Audrey worked to support Carleton through seminary. Rev. Dyer had a 48 year tenure with the Texas Methodist Conference. Audrey was a supportive pastor’s wife as they served many churches in Texas. The church youth were particularly drawn to Audrey and was ultimately given the nickname “Mom” Dyer. While in Nacogdoches the youth knew where they could go for a good home cooked meal followed by a delicious pie. The Dyers retired to Murchison in 1995.
She was preceded in death by a son Carleton Chris Dyer, grandson Aaron Stanford Williams and brother Timmy Bill Tedford.
Survivors include husband Carleton Dyer, Murchison; son William Alex Dyer, Port Arthur; daughters Kristin Kay Stone and husband David, Murchison, Angela Lin Williams, Murchison; brother Teddy Alex Tedford and wife Pam, Athens; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
Pallbearers will be David Stone, Kurt Laney, Mike Williams, Joshua Williams, Roddy Waites, Rev. David Urban.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Tedford and Don Graves.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
