Services for Oleta Mayfield Dodson, 102 of Murchison, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Murchison with Sherman Mayfield and Curtis Chandler officiating.
Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery in Murchison.
Mrs. Dodson passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 in Athens.
She was born October 26, 1912 to Benjamin Allen and Mary Margaret Mayfield. Mrs. Dodson attended school in Murchison and graduated from Athens High School. She was a homemaker all her life and cherished her family and grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life. She attended First Baptist Church in Murchison. She was known for her quilting, cooking and hospitality.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Roy Dennis Dodson on January 23, 2000; her parents; sisters Ophelia Hobbs and Mary Frances McMurtray-Weeks; brother Claridge Mayfield.
Mrs. Dodson is survived by daughters Marita Morse and husband Tommy , Nelda Tillison and husband Howard both of Murchison; three grandchildren Jeanie Fisher and husband Bill of Burleson, Mark Tillison and wife Becky of Murchison, Stacie Niemeyer and husband Josh of College Station; four great grandchildren Kristen Fisher of State College, Pennsylvania, Lauren Fisher of Burleson and Ty and Taylor Tillison of Murchison, brother Harold Mayfield and wife Barbara, Fulshear, Tx.
Nephews serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Mayfield, Jim Mayfield, Roger Mayfield, Steve Mayfield, Terry Hobbs, Mickey Winters, Wayne McMurtray and Clark McMurtray.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Jones, Shelly Jones, Kelly Carnes, Pete Harville, Thurman Powell and Ron Read.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30-7:30 P M Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
