The honors just keep rolling in for Malakoff ISD.

This week, the Texas Education Agency announced that Malakoff ISD is among 24 school districts and charters that achieved a distinction designation for postsecondary readiness and a Met Standard rating for 2016.

Malakoff ISD was the only Henderson County school district to receive the distinction.

” Malakoff ISD is thrilled to be listed among only 24 districts in the state receiving the distinction for postsecondary readiness,” said Superintendent Randy Perry. “This distinction represents ongoing efforts to not only have MISD students progressing from grade to grade, but for our students to have options in life after graduation. Great things are happening at Malakoff ISD.”

The postsecondary readiness distinction – the only distinction at the district level under the state accountability system – takes into account factors such as graduation rates, ACT/SAT participation and performance, Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduates, and dual-credit course completion rates.

Basically, the designation means that district-wide, students are performing at a level that would lead to them having success in the next level of their education.

Last month, TEA released the 2016 state accountability ratings for more than 1,200 school districts and charters, as well as more than 8,600 campuses statewide. The ratings revealed that approximately 94 percent of school districts and charters across Texas have achieved the rating of Met Standard.
