MALAKOFF — Malakoff High School will have a new leader for the coming school year.

The MISD Board of Trustees on Thursday approved hiring Martin Brumit as the new high school principal. Brumit was the assistant principal at Denton ISD’s Billy Ryan High School this past year.

His first day at MISD is scheduled for July 1.

Brumit takes over for Daniel Barton, who left Malakoff to take a job with Tarkington ISD in Cleveland, Texas.

MISD Superintendent Randy Perry said he worked with Brumit earlier in his career.

“He is a man of character and is a family man,” Perry said. “We are looking forward to great things in the future.”
