Major transmission line damage results in extended outages

Press release

Major Outage Update: The April 29 tornadoes in Eustace and Canton severed major transmission lines serving areas covering most of western Van Zandt County, eastern Kaufman County and parts of northern Henderson County.

Restoration of power in these areas is not expected until late Monday at the earliest, and it could be longer in some locations.

The map at this link shows the affected region, separated by the areas served by each TVEC substation. As we get restoration time estimates, we will refer to this map.

The locations and nature of the worst damage have eliminated our ability to re-route power, causing the outage area to stretch well beyond where the tornadoes touched down. Assessments of some areas have been delayed by debris and ground conditions, but crews and material for repairs are flowing into the area.
Restoration efforts are ongoing in other areas as well, with more than 8,000 members restored.
