Henderson County Jail passes inspection

Sheriff Botie Hillhouse

Press release

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse today said the Jail he oversees passed the annual, mandatory, surprise inspection by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.

“The Commission does a great job making sure facilities across the state are in compliance, and I am more than pleased they approve of our operation,” Hillhouse said. “Our average jail population this year has been 366 inmates.”

The Commission comes unannounced every year to jails across the State.

Inspectors are checking the construction, maintenance and operations of facilities.

They also review the custody, care and treatment of inmates and check on programs related to rehabilitation, education and recreation.

“Ours is a sound, safe facility that protects the people of this County by getting people who need to be incarcerated off the streets,” the Sheriff said.

“I want to thank the Commission’s staff for their meticulous work and the Detention Staff who work every day keeping our citizens safe,” Hillhouse said.
