Press release

The Gun Barrel City Masonic Youth Rainbow Girls attended their state conference in Waco, Texas, June 23-26, where the girls not only had a cool time at Hawaiian Falls Water Park, but also were recognized for their many hours of service and much more.

Tara Trimmins and Cheryl Nix were both presented their Grand Cross medallions for their extensive service, the highest award you can receive in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. The Assembly was second place winner for collecting Labels for Education for their local schools and was also recognized for collecting Boxtops for Education and donating pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. Nicci Ferguson, Dixie Rife, and Tara Trimmins sang in the Grand Choir; and Samantha Ramos and Katie Schaefer served as Grand Guards. As Grand Page, Emily Currey also participated in the Cavalcade of Flags. Carrie Currey received her Age Majority Certificate and was recognized for her 8-years of membership in Rainbow, Tara Trimmins for 6 years, and Emily Currey and Samantha Ramos for their 3-year memberships. Samantha and Katie performed beautifully on the Memorial Team, and Nicci did a super job introducing all the dignitaries at the Awards Luncheon. Emily delivered the membership and service bracelet program report (“Build Your Rainbow”) on behalf of Ms. Jerri Young. The following were recognized for completing their bracelets this year: Samantha, Emily, Kayla Rife, and Mrs. Donna Dean. The Assembly was delighted when it was announced that Carrie was appointed as Sister of Victory on the Grand Cross of Color Team for this coming year. The girls are already looking forward to the next state event where they can be reunited their friends from all over Texas again.
