Gun Barrel City Masonic Youth Attend Meeting

The Gun Barrel City Masonic Youth Rainbow Girls attended their Mid-Year Meeting at the Cosmopolitan Masonic Lodge in Port Arthur, Texas, on Feb. 1. The day began with workshops on building membership and crafts. There were also competitions in the various ceremonies the girls can present. After a tasty lunch of chicken strips, peas, mashed potatoes, rolls, and banana pudding, the girls convened in the lodge room to induct three new members–one of which is a new member in the Gun Barrel City Assembly. Tylee Henderson was very excited to be inducted by the State Grand Officers. Then the winners of the competitions were announced, and Gun Barrel City was very proud that its own Carrie Currey, who won second place in the Gavel Ceremony.

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a service-oriented, leadership organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 20. Rainbow Girls participate in a wide array of activities, including leadership training, service projects, competitions, and annual retreats. Their younger group, the Pledges, have activities for girls ages 8 to 10.
