GBC Candidates Forum Scheduled

Gun Barrel City residents will be given an opportunity to ask City Council candidates questions during a “Meet the Candidates Forum” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 in the Gun Barrel City Council Chamber.

The candidate forum will be hosted by The Athens Daily Review, The Monitor, Henderson County Now and CedarCreekLake.com. The panel will consist of Kathi Nailling representing The Athens Review, David Webb from The Monitor and Cedar Creek Lake.com and Michael Hannigan of Henderson County Now.

Justice of the Peace Kevin Pollock will moderate the forum. Members of the panel will ask two questions each. The candidates will have an opportunity to give their answers.
In addition, each candidate will make a two minute opening statement and a one minute closing statement.

The citizens of Gun Barrel City will have an opportunity to write their questions on index cards and the moderator will ask the questions of the candidates.

The most contested race is for the at-large Place 5 seat, where two candidates Linda Rankin and Steven Schiff are looking to unseat incumbent City Councilman Marty Goss.
Rob Rea running for the Place 1 has been invited to participate in the forum. Rea is running unopposed for the council seat being vacated by Councilman Rodney Bevill. Incumbent Councilwoman Carol Calkins, who is also running unopposed, has been invited to participate.

The Meet the Candidate Forum will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 in the Gun Barrel City Council Chamber.

Early voting will start on Monday, April 27. The election will be held on Saturday, May 9.
