Firefighter Hit By SUV At Fire

Henderson County fire officials reported that a Log Cabin VFD firefighter was hit by an SUV Tuesday night while working at a fire. The firefighter’s name was not released.

The house fire occurred on County Road 3925 just outside of Loop 7 and off State Highway 175. The fire is under investigation by the Henderson County Fire Marshal’s Office.

According to reports, the firefighter was helping a fire truck to back onto SH 175 when he was struck by the SUV. He was transported to ETMC Athens and later careflighted to ETMC Tyler. Official say he was released from the hospital early Wednesday morning. No other information about the firefighter’s injuries was available this morning.

Henderson County Fire Marshal Shane Renberg said he would be working with area fire departments to try and ensure firefighter safety in these situations in the future.
