(Recently), Kevin and I got a great opportunity to go and check out 3 P’s in a Vine Vineyard in Athens, TX. Located at 955 Douglas rd, on a scenic 12 acre landscape.
All told we tasted all eight of their wines, and there was not a single one that didn’t have a distinct, enticing flavor.
I think hands down our favorite was the Tempernillo Reserve, of the reds, A bold wine with hints of berries, underlined with earthy tones, aged in French Oak with soft tannins.
The unanimous decision on the whites was the Porch Swing, An excitingly fresh white wine blended with flavors of apple and honey.
While we were there, the hospitality was spot on. Brett was our vino guide that not only gave us vivid descriptions, but also shared with us a bit of history and backstory on all the wines.
We were even more impressed with the atmosphere. All the woodwork was done by Brett with the help of local carpenter and business owner Steven Lebeau. You can truly see the craftsmanship that was put in to the construction of the building…even the bathroom is pristine.
To finish out the day, we shared a cheese plate with a variety of delicious cheeses, grapes, crackers and mouth watering Mediterranean olives. We chatted up with our friends on the balcony about this and that, and really enjoyed the warm atmosphere that 3P’s had to offer.
I’ve known Brett and Rae for a little while, but enough to expect greatness at whatever they do, those feelings held merit today as they truly delivered. McKenzie was fantastic enough to stop by and grace us with her presence, and she is just a ray of sunshine.
All told, the experience was one of the highlights of my weekend, and one Kevin and I will not soon forget. If you get a chance you should check out 3 P’s in a Vine Winery & Vineyard. A truly wonderful experience with all the warmth and hospitality you’ve come to expect from down to earth locals, and truly impressive wines.
